Diaries, 1885,1891.

Diaries of a housewife, (probably in Peoria, Ill.), Jan. 1- Dec. 12, 1885 and Jan. 1-June 25, 1891. Diaries briefly describe family life, meetings of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society, social life, participation in a Shakespeare reading club, and a trip through Michigan (Mackinac Island), Minnesota, Cleveland, Ohio, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Cape May, New Jersey, Niagara Falls, and Brooklyn and Buffalo, New York. Some accounts and lists of letters and calls sent/made and received are in the back of the volumes. Also, there is a letter from Harry L. Freeman in Newton to a Miss Eastman, Dec. 13, 1891 (in vol. 2. 2). The source of the author's name and address is an old, unverifiable shelf list card. See also CMU Student Term Paper by Lori J. Willett, 1996, about Freeman's 1885 Diary in the Clarke.
